What Pinterest boards should my business create?
Pinterest is becoming a powerful marketing tool for small businesses. It can help you funnel traffic to your website, find new customers, and increase sales. BUT, I hear you say, what boards should you create to drive engagement and ultimately sales?
1. Your favorite business resources
What websites, blogs, tools and resources do you use in your business
on a regular basis? Think of it as your visual bookmarking system for blog posts on your industry that you like. Yes, these links go to other websites BUT it shows your customers you are active in your industry, always learning... which is a great thing. It's also a great sharing resource between your team. As the business owner you can be directing team members to what you want them to be reading.
2. Feature your products / services
Create a board to
promote your products and services. Big gorgeous photos on your website are crucial to the success of this board. Lifestyle shots work best. This encourages people back to your website to drive sales. If you add the $ and price ($9.99) to your pin description, it will also be featured in the Pinterest marketplace.

3. Inspiration for your product / service
Make a list of all of the things your target customers are interested
in and create a board around each topic. Here are some ideas:
- If you sell baby and kids clothing, create boards for healthy
snacks for kids or DIY crafts for kids.
- If you sell jewellery or are a florist have a "wedding inspiration" board where you pin pictures of gorgeous table settings, brides, dresses, flower arrangements etc.
- If you sell home decor, create boards for decorating on a tight
budget, paint ideas, best cities to live in, inspiring home offices or
kids bedroom ideas.
- If you are in the agriculture industry have a "cute farm animals" board or a "home vegetable garden" board.
Throw the odd pin in that is from your product range or blog. This style of board is more about showing you are passionate about your industry and getting followers. You will be able to follow them back and then learn what is HOT in your industry.
4. Feature your clients
Create a board to
promote their businesses, products and services. Not only does this give
existing clients a little publicity, but it also
shows prospective clients the depth and variety of your client base. If you have products or services that are visual, you can create a
board that acts as your showcase.
You could post photos of your clients
with their testimonials in the description; video testimonials; and even
photos of original cards and letters. This may be one of the most
powerful ways to use Pinterest to give your business credibility.
5. Business advice
If you have a business blog, create a board that highlights some of the most
popular posts on your blog. This is a great way to get people moving from Pinterest to your website.
6. About your company (meet the team)
Use a Pinterest board
that contain information typically found on a business "about us" web page. Highlight personnel,
company history, and other interesting facts. This might be as simple as pinning instagram photos of your team. Pin pics of your offices, your staff, your kitchen or anything to bring
your (current or potential) clients closer to your company. Try to get
them to feel like they already know you – and they like you!
7. Community boards
Pinterest is a social network. Highlight areas of your local community, shops in your neighborhood,
and local traditions in order to strengthen and promote your community. Allow other pinners to add to the board to create a sense of online community and sharing.
8. Inspirational quotes
Need a little bit of motivation? Create a board for your collection of inspirational quotes – some
famous, some not – could help inspire you and others when you need it most. These pins are very popular so should generate some interest in the Pinterest community.
